Crime & Safety
Police Log: Monday, September 26, 2011
Monday was a tribute to the effectiveness of Benicia police department's ability to deter crime.
There weren’t many calls and no arrests as police had a relatively quiet day in Benicia. It was the kind of day residents can point to and say, “That is one reason I chose to live here.” Of course, there was that vehicle that was stopped by a tree.
12:45 a.m.: Police responded to a call on Bolton Circle where a resident heard some noise and then dogs barking. Officers didn’t find anything amiss.
5:05 a.m.: A residential alarm on East Second Street was found to be a malfunction.

6:15 p.m.: A cell phone 911 from Park Road call turned out to be a butt dial.

9:04 p.m.: There was a verbal altercation on Southampton Road. Police were able to effectively referee.
9:33 p.m.: Officers responding to reports of a dog loose on Rose Drive were able to reunite the pooch with its person.

Editor’s Note: Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
