Police Log: Unauthorized Construction Project Stopped

An unauthorized construction project was halted after it was reported to the police.

The disappearing barking dog didn’t make an appearance on Tuesday but the malfunctioning alarm showed up on East Second Street.  There were a couple of minor traffic collisions and one lucky person will find that lost set of keys at the Benicia Police Department.

12:05 a.m.: A malfunctioning alarm at a business on East Second Street got the attention of officers.

7:43 a.m.: A resident on East Fourth Street reported her house had been broken into and her purse stolen.  While officers were taking the report the person found the purse she had inadvertently misplaced.

8:48 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Radnor.

8:52 a.m.: There was another non-injury traffic accident, this time on East Second Street.  11:56 a.m.: A set of keys was found on West K Street and turned in at the Benicia Police Department.

12:31 p.m.: Officers responded to a report of a hit and run on St. Augustine.  The car that was hit sustained very minor damage.

1:44 p.m.: Officers left a note for the person on East F Street whose dog was making all the noise.

3:07 p.m.: Police took a report on an indirect threat left on a social media website.

3:27 p.m.: Police couldn’t find any sign of forced entry at a residence on West K Street where a burglary was supposed to have happened.

5:37 p.m.: An empty lot on East F Street was the location of an illegal construction project.  After the project was reported, officers talked to the kids who were constructing bicycle ramps and had them deconstruct the project.

9:53 p.m.: A 46-year-old Vallejo woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on I-780.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
