Police Log: Wednesday, August 31, 2011

There were people sleeping in their cars and somebody is eating at the wrong table.

Police are investigating a case of stolen furniture and had to rouse a sleeping person and ask them to drive on down the road. 

7:35 a.m.: An employee of a cleaning company was working at a bank-owned home on Linda Vista when he noted someone sleeping in a RV.  Police talked to the napping person and advised the sleeper that it is inadvisable to nap in the car in Benicia. The person and the RV moved along.

8:10 a.m.: A woman on Capitol reported that her patio set was stolen from her yard the night before.

1:10 p.m.: An employee of a Solano Square business reported her cell phone was stolen. The victim was able to identify a suspect who is a high school student. Police report they talked to the suspect and the school is handling the discipline.

3:02 p.m.: Police arrested a 35-year-old Oakland man on Southampton Rd. The arrestee was suspected of being drunk in public, and being in violation of his probation. He was also suspected of assault and battery  and, to round out the afternoon, police suspect him of drinking illegally in a public park.

11:51 p.m.: Police responded to a call of a woman passed out in her car on West Seventh Street. Turned out the car was out of gas and apparently so was she.

Editor’s Note: Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is gong off.
