Police Log: Weekend Roundup

The weekend roundup is running late due to a computer problem at the city end. Thanks to the dispatch person who took the time to send me the log via email.

The weekend got off to a semi-humorous/embarrassing start for one business owner. Police, however, didn’t find any humor in the number of noise complaint calls they had to respond to.

2:02 a.m.: The car reported stolen on First Street was just parked somewhere other than where the owner thought he had parked it.

2:16 a.m.: A 21-year-old Benicia man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

9:00 a.m.: A sick kitty was found on West K Street. The cat was taken to the animal hospital.

9:43 a.m.: A resident of Sweetbrier had to go down to the city Corporation Yard to retrieve the two dogs that had escaped the confines of the yard and into the arms of the law.

10:29 a.m.: Employees of a Southampton Shopping Center business reported a shoplifter had tried to steal a smart-pad.  Police are investigating.

11:03 a.m.: A resident of East Third found a cockatiel on the roof.  The reporting party is holding on to the bird until the owner is located.

11:28 a.m.: A bicycle was found on Carolina. Police have stored the bike at the property storage room.

12:02 p.m.: Someone broke into a church on Military West. Nothing appeared to be taken, though the people who broke in did rearrange the furniture.

2:52 p.m.: Two juveniles on were arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property. They were in the vicinity of the bottom of First Street.

3:46 p.m.: Someone on East L Street had a laptop computer stolen.

4:04 p.m.: A Columbus Circle citizen reported the theft of some alcohol.

10:16 p.m.: That loud music residents of Military East reported was not playing when police arrived.

9:50 a.m.: Police were unable to determine why an alarm went off at a Military West business.

12:48 p.m.: Two dogs running loose on Lake Herman Road managed to avoid capture by officers.

2:55 p.m.: A Benicia man was arrested on East L Street on suspicion of petty theft. The man  was taken to the county jail.

4:43 p.m.: Police talked to the people on Banbury who were having the loud argument and got them to be quiet.

4:48 p.m.: Nobody at an East I Street home wanted to admit they had accidentally dialed 911.

8:11 p.m.: A group of juvenile boys were banging on doors on East K Street. Police were able to talk to the young men and explain that banging on doors was un-cool.

9:10 p.m.: Police were unable to find the group of loud people making residents of West Fifth Street nervous.

9:35 p.m.: Police sent a request for follow-up to the Animal Control Officer because they were unable to make contact with the owners of the barking dog on Belvedere.

10:29 p.m.: Once again police were unable to find a group of loud people. This time they were not on a patio on Southampton Road when police arrived.

10:49 p.m.: The loud people on Buchanan were still loud when police arrived. All the party people left when police arrived.

11:04 p.m.: A woman on Barton Way called police to complain that a man refused to leave her home. Watching the woman talk to the cops on the phone was really all the convincing he needed.

11:24 p.m.: A woman on Arbor called to say a man was standing in front of her home. The man left on foot and police were unable to locate him.

1:07 a.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on East H Street. After being arrested she was driven to the county jail.

1:44 a.m.: A 35-year-old Vallejo man was stopped on 680 South on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He too was given a ride to the county jail.

8:21 a.m.: An employee at a Park Road business accidentally set off the alarm.

1:43 p.m.: There was a non-injury accident on West D Street.

11:07 p.m.: A resident on Columbus Circle reported hearing a loud noise and then an alarm.  Police didn’t find anything suspicious.

Editor’s Note: Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
