Police Log: Weekend Wrap-Up

Benicia cops got in the middle of a lot of verbal and physical altercations and helped introduce one lucky parent to the joys of buying wine that no one will ever drink.

It was a busy weekend for Benicia Police, who were called on to quell the noise at numerous parties. There were lots of calls about fights, too. And the honest people were out in force as well, turning in numerous items that appeared to be lost.

Friday, Aug. 19

1:05 a.m.: A resident of East Third Street reported hearing gunshots.  Police checked the area and found nothing.

9:41 a.m.: Police received a 911 call on Park Road.  They couldn’t find anyone in distress.

10:15 a.m.: Some unlucky citizen lost their iPhone on East B Street.  The citizen’s luck took a turn for the better when police were able to return the phone.

1:28 p.m.: A suspect was arrested on a no-bail warrant for three counts of armed robbery. Another suspect was arrested at the same time on a warrant from Napa County.

4:11 p.m.: A group of juveniles was in the early stages of an altercation on Southampton Road. When police arrived they couldn’t find the fight.

6:01 p.m.: There were reports of kids on bicycles weaving in and out of traffic on West J Street. The kids rode away before police arrived.

6:04 p.m.: A resident reported kids drinking and smoking in the pedestrian tunnel on East Third Street. The party had apparently ended before police arrived to check things out.

6:56 p.m.: Riverhill Drive was the site of an altercation between a number of youngsters. Police found a group of kids but no one was fighting.

6:59 p.m.: Police looked for a possible drunk driver on East Second Street.

10:27 p.m.: Concerned parents asked for documentation of threats their son had received at school. The school is aware of the incident.

11:54 p.m.: Two friends were fighting in front of a First Street business. The fighters decided not to press charges against each other.

 

Saturday, Aug. 20

1:07 a.m.: A bunch of men got into a name-calling match. They got quiet when police arrived and talked to them about the inadvisability of yelling at each other in the wee hours of the morning.

1:17 a.m.: A bunch of folks were yelling at each other on Sunset Circle. The group was persuaded to be quiet.

10:50 a.m., 10:52 a.m. and 11:51 a.m.: Police found a number of things that appeared to have been lost. The items were found on West K Street, East H Street and Gallagher.

3:13 p.m.: A man was found to be drinking in the parking lot at Solano Square. Police were able to have one of the man’s relatives take him home.

7:36 p.m.: Residents of Southampton Road reported a lot of noise generated by people. Police responding to the call couldn’t find the loud people.

11:16 p.m.: A loud party was reported on London Circle but police were unable to locate it.

11:36 p.m.: Three teens broke some wine bottles in a Southampton Road store.  A parent of one of the teens paid for the broken bottles.  The police log failed to identify the vintage or the varietal.

Sunday, Aug. 21

1:09 a.m.: This time police were able to locate the loud people. They were attending a party on Primrose and decided to go inside when police arrived.

2:29 a.m.: A group of partiers on Larkin was convinced to take the party inside and turn down the music after police received noise complaints.

2:44 a.m.: Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Grove. It was suspected the man was driving while intoxicated.

1:56 p.m.: A woman stole baby items and soda pop from a Columbus Parkway store.

7:20 p.m.: A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and a probation violation.

10:52 p.m.: A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of  possession of a controlled substance, and for having a concealed weapon.
