Suspected Child Molester Nabbed After Month-Long Investigation

The man arrested today is suspected of molesting a Benicia boy when the victim was just 5-years-old.

A 48-year-old Benicia man suspected of molesting a Benicia boy was arrested early this morning as he left work at a business in the 6000 block of Egret Court.  The man, Daniel Van Fisher is suspected of molesting the boy when the boy was 5-7 years old.

Fisher was taken into custody without incident by Benicia Police Detectives around 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.  The arrest warrant for Fisher was issued by the Honorable Alan Carter of the Solano Superior Courts.  

The warrant charges Fisher with 19 counts of Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Minor Under 14 years of age, Sexual Contact with a Minor Under 10 years of age, and Child Endangerment.  The judge issued the warrant as “no bail” in this case.

The alleged sexual abuse occurred between 2005 and 2008 when the minor was between 5 years and 7 years old.  The abuse occurred at a residence in the City of Benicia.  

Fisher at that time was in a dating relationship with the victim’s mother.  This particular relationship has ended and Fisher does not have access to the victim according to Benicia Police.

Benicia Police Department Youth Services Detective Edward Criado led a month long investigation after police were notified of the possible abuse.  A search warrant of 

Fisher’s residence in the 1500 block of East 4th Street in Benicia was served as was a second search warrant at another address in the 100 block of Carlisle Way in Benicia.  

It was determined Fisher also stays at the Carlisle Way address and detectives responded to this location in an attempt to recover possible evidence associated with this investigation. Fisher was later transported and booked into the Solano County Jail in Fairfield.

“Detectives recovered computers from a residence associated with the investigation,” said Benicia Police Lt. Frank Hartig.  “The computers will be forensically examined for evidence in this case.”
