"Our officers and detectives are investigating these thefts to see if they can turn up any leads," said Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley. "To commit these crimes, the thieves have to turn the water supply off to the business, which can make matters much worse for the business."

"Our detectives are working with other agencies who may have experienced similar thefts," said Daley. "In addition, we are providing extra patrols and will be communicating with our business community about these types of crimes.
"These crimes are occurring late at night or early in the morning, and we encourage anyone with information to call Detective Gregg Rouse at (707) 746-4251,” said Daley.  “Also, if anyone is out in these areas at night, maybe making delivers, and sees anything suspicious, we encourage them to call either 911 if they think a crime is in progress or they can also call (707) 745-3412, Option 1, to report what they are seeing to our emergency dispatchers."
