Report of Sexual Assault During Home Invasion

Police say victim reported one man assaulted her while three accomplices looted home.

Benicia police detectives are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred during a break-in at a Benicia residence. No arrests have been made and police are following a number of leads.  

Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Benicia police received a report that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted after four suspects gained entry to her home on the 400 block of Lansing Circle. 

Police said the woman told officers that while three of the suspects looted the home of jewelry and electronics, one of them sexually assaulted her.  The suspects fled the area before police arrived.

"We believe this was not a random act," Benicia police Lt. Mike Daley said. "Our detectives are following up a number of leads.  Although we can't comment specifically at this time, we don't believe our community in general is at danger of another attack by this group."
