Ballot is Set for November Election
Two are vying for mayor, two for treasurer and four for city council.
Wednesday marked the last day for candidates to file nomination papers for Benicia City Council and Treasurer and there were no late entries into the contests.
On Nov. 8 Benicia voters will be asked to elect a mayor, two people to the City Council, and the city treasurer and city clerk. Incumbent City Clerk Lisa Wolfe is running unopposed.
Alan Schwartzman is currently on the City Council and because he was the highest vote getter in the 2009 council election is currently serving as vice mayor. If Schwartzman is elected mayor in November, his council seat will go to the third-place candidate in this year's council election.
