The Benicia City Council will consider appointment of one of its own to a panel tasked with interviewing applicants for the Climate Action Plan coordinator consultant position.
The discussion will take place during the regular City Council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday November 15 at Benicia City Hall, 250 East L Street.
The council ok’d the request for proposals for the position at its October 4 meeting. During the discussion that evening, Councilman Tom Campbell who will soon be the city’s vice-mayor, said he wanted a member of the city council on the interview panel.
If a member of the City Council is selected to be on the interview panel that person will be an ex-officio or non-voting member.
The $150,000 Climate Action Plan Coordinator position will be paid for with funds from the Valero/Good Neighbor Steering Committee settlement.
The council will also consider a request by outgoing councilman Mike Ioakimedes to make general cost information of items included in employee contracts more understandable for the general public.
Ioakimedes’ idea is to make the cost of various items included in the contracts more transparent for taxpayers.
