Benicia Public Library Upgrading Computer System, Hosting Concert

Patrons won't be able to check out books but they can listen to some live music.

If your idea of a perfect long weekend is curling up with a great book, then you better get to the library today to find your tome for the weekend.

The will be closed Friday, February 17 for safety upgrades and will remain closed Saturday and Sunday to perform an extensive upgrade of the library’s computer catalog system.  The library will be closed Monday in observance of the President's Day holiday.

The upgrade to the computer system won’t stop the library from hosting a free concert Saturday night featuring guitarist Teddy Randazzo and bass guitarist Michael Manring.

The update requires significant resources and data to be migrated from one system to another and services such as checking out materials and public computer use will be unavailable during that process.

The closure dates were chosen to have as little impact on the public as possible. The Benicia Public Library is closed Friday for a safety upgrade in the staff area.

Other libraries in the Solano and Napa regions will also be closed for the weekend but will be open for business on Friday.
