Employers sought to STEP up, provide work experience

SOLANO COUNTY – Employers are wanted to STEP up and participate in a program that will offset the 
cost of providing work experience to Solano County residents receiving public assistance.
Public, private and non-profit employers can participate in the Short-Term Employment Program (STEP), 
which runs through June 2014. In exchange for helping people on public assistance gain job skills and 
good work habits from paid work experience, participating employers will be reimbursed for wages and a 
portion of the employer’s paid taxes. 
Interested employers can download details and a letter of interest package from the County’s web site at 
www.solanocounty.com, and click on the Bids & RFPs icon and Purchasing Services. Packages are also 
available at the Department of General Services Purchasing Services Office in Suite 2500 of the County 
Administration Center, 675 Texas St. in Fairfield. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. 
to 4:30 p.m.
