The only race that seems to have tightened as the evening wears on iss Prop. 29 which started the night looking like it had passed in Solano County but as of midnight it is now trailing.

Measure L which would extend an exsisting .015 percent sales tax for 16 years is also winning by a wide margin. Measure L needs at least 67.67 percent to win adn currently has lightly over 80 percent of voters supporting it.
In a tight race that could mean a power shift on the Solano County Board of Supervisors, Skip Thompson is beginning to pull away in the race for the District 5 seat.
9:00 p.m.
The polls are closed and the Registrar of Voters has posted the results of the absentee voter count. The early results would seem to favor incumbent Linda Seifert who is beating her challenger, Benicia School board member Steve Messina, by about 2,800 votes.
Measure L, the measure that would extend the current eighth cent sales tax to support libraries, is also winning handily in the early returns garnering 80 percent of the absentee vote.
Historically the absentee voters were considered the more conservative voters. If the trend continues, with more liberal voters going to the polls on the day of the election Seifert and Measure L should win. Because Measure L is a tax it needs a two thirds majority to pass.
If the results hold in the Fifth Supervisorial district where Skip Thompson leads incumbent Mike Reagan then the County Board of Supervisors will slant a little to the left. The current majority, led by Jim Spering of Suisun City tends to lean to the right.
