Messina Mailer is First of the Primary Season

Early mail piece introduces former Benicia Mayor.

, the only declared challenger to County Supervisor Linda Seifert, has gotten his campaign off to an early start.  Last week, sent out a mailer to voters in the Second Supervisorial District.

Messina is well known to Benicia voters who elected him mayor twice and to the school board.

The mailer introduces Messina to voters who may not know him as well, those in Vallejo and Fairfield who are in the Second District.

is in the last year of her first term as a county supervisor.  She won the seat by defeating former Benicia City Councilman John Silva in 2008.

Messina's mailer is an easy going introduction that tells his background and touches on large themes like crime, the economy and infrastructure without going into specifics on how the candidate would deal with any of them.

It also doesn't mention Seifert.

The filing period for canddidates running for county supervisor is February 13 through March 9.  The primary election is June 5.  If no one else gets intot he race the election will be dicided in June but the winner won't be sworn in until after the November general election.

If there are three or more people running for the seat and no one gets more than 50 percent of the vote in June, there will be a runoff between the top two vote gettters.
