The Benicia Area Mapped by Wealth, According to Census Data

Check out the map to compare income levels in neighborhoods around Benicia, and the rest of the country.

This map is a visual depiction of income levels across Benicia and its surrounding areas. The cooler colors represent higher incomes and the warmer colors represent lower ones.

The map was created by a website called Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks, which has mapped out "how much money people make in every neighborhood in every city in America."

Click to enlarge the Benicia map >>

As you can see, cooler colors in Benicia give way to warmer colors toward Vallejo. The highest levels come in Glencove, though.

Play around with the map yourself at Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks. If you want more economic details about a given neighborhood, click the map after you click "search" and it will give you some details.

Also try typing in big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco or even Sacramento to see how income levels are distributed large, urban areas. It's very interesting.

According to the website:

Source on income data: 2007-2011 American Community Survey. Income figures reflect the U.S. Census definition of income. All map boundaries are Census Tracts.

Not terribly granular, but I guess useful for people not from an area to figure out where not to move.

Robert Livesay February 14, 2013 at 03:27 PM
John I guess where you live that very well could be correct.

So instead of riding ones bicycle delivering papers or some other function, i.e. maintenance people, services business, fuller-brush man, sales force, ad naseum, we can now use our computers and just know where the "other side of the tracks" side of town is located. Wow, what a huge technological leap forward in useful information. Oh yes, left off the thugs that might want to break in-now they have a better sense of where to live and where to work.

Are they taking in the average income of the household? If so that seems unfair since so many families live in one house in Glen Cove. Bob anytime you would like to compare income, investments, or house values please let me know. It will be sad that I at least will double yours and I'm only have your age. Too bad Obama can't run for a third term, right?
Robert Livesay February 14, 2013 at 07:39 PM
John If you are 30 I would say you have done well. I would be very careful on your statements. You just might get the surprise of your life. Besides you as Liberal Socialist are not supposed to make conparisons on wealth.. That is very anti President Obama. By the way where you live you are not suppose to use the whole group of houses for income conmparisin. Only one family at a time. Just how big is your mobile home?

JOHN H , "so many families live in one house in Glen Cove ". If you are insinuating that the only way asians can out earn whites is to have many people living in one home ,you might try reading something other than the patch . Fact... Asian families on average out earn white families . Indeed, Koreans own more small businesses per capita than any one group in this country . Take a day trip down University Avenue in Berkeley and have lunch ,recognize who is sitting next to you .

Now being that we are supposedly living in a "Judae/Christian Society. The right thing or the Christian thing for you "Haves'" to do is to share the wealth with the "Don't Haves'". I mean think about it, what would Jesus do? And after all you can't take it with you!!!

Everyone should take a look at the comment John Headley made on the Benicia Herald on-line article by Matt Talbot. You would now the kind of person you are dealing with. He only knows personal attacks. They are all false and he knows it.
John Headley February 14, 2013 at 11:24 PM
Who said anything about Asians? And I believe the attack is on Vallejo not races. My trailer is very nice Bob thanks for asking.
leon johnson February 15, 2013 at 01:46 AM
I speak many languages John, including white bigot , the general ethnic makeup of Glen Cove is well known .

I'd like to remind everyone here to please be respectful and stay away from any kind of personal attacks or offensive comments. Thanks.

You have a tough job Cody ,for some in Benicia the word "Vallejo" is a euphemism for a race of people or two they dont like. "many families live in one house", how often is that used to describe Asians and Mexicans ?
John Headley February 15, 2013 at 02:26 AM
Leon you are grasping for straws my wife's Filipino.
