Want to Vote then Help Others Cast Their Ballot?

The Solano County Registrar of Voters is looking for people to work at precinct polling locations all across the county in the upcoming primary on June 5.  According to Steve Pierce, Solano county Communications Officer, workers are needed in every city in the county.

“We are looking for civic-minded citizens of all ages who can work the polls on Election Day,” said Assistant Registrar of Voters Lindsey McWilliams. 

Poll workers must be registered to vote in California, willing to attend a mandatory training session prior to the election, able to arrange for their own transportation to and from training and to and from the polling place, and be available to work Election Day from 6 a.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. 

The Registrar also has a poll worker program for high school students who need not be registered to vote but have met the other requirements.

Mandatory training provides all the knowledge and skills needed to do the job; however, people savvy with computers and new technology are desired to serve as electronic roster clerks.

For their Election Day duties and training commitment, poll workers receive a stipend. Precinct clerks can receive up to $135 and inspectors up to $165.
