What Are the Issues Supervisor Candidates Should Address During Campaign?

The June primary election is fast approaching and Patch wants voters to help create a questionnaire for the candidates for County Supervisor.

In nine weeks, on June 5, Benicia voters will help elect the District 2 County Supervisor.

Incumbent  Supervisor Linda Seifert, currently the Chairman of the Solano County Board of Supervisors is running for re-election.  Seifert’s only challenger is former Benicia Mayor and current school board member Steve Messina.

Here at Benicia Patch we want to know what you, the voters, think are the important questions Seifert and Messina should be answering.  Should the Board of Supervisors support a sales tax increase to help fund transportation improvements throughout the county?  How should the county respond to the governor’s Public Safety Realignment and Community Corrections Partnership?

In 2008, Solano County voters passed a 20-year extension of the Orderly Growth Initiative so, unlike the city councils, the county Board of Supervisors doesn’t deal with land use and development issues.   County government focuses on courts and criminal justice, health, social services and property tax assessment and collection.

Benicia Patch will collect questions from readers through Wednesday, April 11.  We will then forward the questions to the candidates and will post their answers beginning Monday, April 23.
