Benicia's New School Board Member is...

The Benicia Unified School District Board of Education appointed a new trustee this week to replace Dana Dean, who resigned.

School board trustees on Wednesday chose a banking and brokerage lawyer to join their ranks.

Peter Morgan, a Charles Schwab and Co. senior vice president and deputy general counsel, was appointed to the Benicia Unified School District Board of Education this week.

The trustees appointed Morgan to fill a vacancy created when Trustee Dana Dean was appointed to the Solano County Board of Education.

The Vallejo Times-Herald reported Morgan has three kids in the district; his wife is on the PTA and school site council at Matthew Turner Elementary School, the Times-Herald reported.

Morgan will serve the remainder of Dean's term, which has been extended to 2014.

Thorn and Morgan were the trustees' top two candidates, according to minutes from the meeting.
