February 28, 7PM - Climate Change Vulnerability Ranking for California Endangered Plants
Brian L. Anacker, California Department of Fish &, Biogeographic Data Branch
Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1400 E. 2nd Street , Benicia
Brian Anacker will be presenting new work on ranking the vulnerability of California ’s rare and endangered plants to climate change. The new system will enable resource agencies to predict which species will be early victims or hardy survivors of climate change, and help inform policy and management responses.

Brian works as a post-doctoral researcher with Steve Schoenig at the California Department of Fish and Game in Sacramento . Their project is to create a climate change vulnerability index for California 's native plants. In particular, they plan to use species distribution models to predict range shifts of rare plant species. Brian’s other research interests include the ecology, evolution, and conservation of serpentine plant diversity in California .
