Kids in Need, Need School Supplies

Solano County Office of Education is spearheading a drive to collect school supplies for children in need.

Benicia residents have an opportunity to help those less fortunate then themselves by donating school supplies that will be used by children in need. Donations can be dropped off at the new through August 12 and at the Travis Federal Credit Union located in the Southampton Center.

In the last three years, Solano County schools have identified over 2,000 homeless students in Solano County. Due to the loss of housing and financial problems, these young people may be living on the streets, in shelters, or staying temporarily with family or friends or in foster care.

To assist the homeless youth of our county, the Solano County Office of Education (SCOE) has partnered with radio station KUIC-FM, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and Travis Credit Union in support of the regional Stuff the Bus Campaign.
