Benicia Fans Can 'Take BART to Cal Football,'

If you're going to a home football game at UC Berkeley's newly refurbished stadium and want to avoid the parking woes, you can take BART to downtown Berkeley or Rockridge and hop on a free Cal football shuttle to the stadium, according to BART

BART urges those going to home football games at Cal to avoid the parking headache take BART to downtown Berkeley or Rockridge instead.

Benicia's Cal fans can park at Pleasant Hill BART and take the train to Rockridge.

Then game-goers can board the free Cal football shuttle to take them to newly rebuilt Memorial Stadium.

"Take BART to Cal Football," said the top headline in a recent issue of the BART Times.

"Enjoy all the excitement of 2012 Cal Bears football with none of the hassles of parking or traffic around newly-renovated Memorial Stadium," the BART publication said.

"Take BART…and you’re there! Take BART to the Downtown Berkeley or Rockridge stations and hop on the Cal football shuttle to the stadium. Buses begin running two hours before kickoff and best of all, they’re free."

The UC Berkeley Bears, which are 1-3 for the season so far, play at home tomorrow, Sept. 29, against Arizona State in their third game in the new stadium. They lost the season opener – and the first game in their new home – to Nevada on Sept. 1.
