Jazuk's Utilize Twin Magic for Benicia High Basketball

Brothers command low post for the Panthers.

One likes Kevin Durant, the other LeBron James.

If it’s the only conflict the Jazuk twin brothers have, they should be fine.

The 18-year-old near-identical sibling tandem of Ben and Daniel Jazuk have shared the low post for the Benicia High boys basketball team the past two seasons and the same court for years.

“To be honest, I don’t really know any different,” Ben said. “Every single game I’ve played in, there’s only been a couple games where he’s been sick and can’t play.”

For the brothers, that’s been almost every game since second grade.

“We’ve been playing with each other so long we know each other,” Daniel said. “We’re with each other all the time.”

So far this season, Ben is the Panthers’ leading scorer, averaging 14.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while Daniel is recording 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest.

Though Ben’s 6-foot-5 and Daniel’s 6-foot-4 frame gives them the appearance of being pure post players, Benicia coach Steven Carter likes to have one down low and another behind the three-point arc.

“A lot of people don’t realize they’re three-point shooters but they’re actual two of our best three-point shooters,” Carter said.

Daniel has made 33 percent of his three-point field goals this year while Ben has made 7-of-24 attempts, or 29 percent.

Ben said the duo has this “crazy” chemistry on the court.

“I always know where he is, he always knows where I am,” he said. “It’s amazing. Not many people get this chance to have somebody exactly like them to know and to have the chemistry that we have.”

Daniel echoed his brother’s sentiments.

“We’re twins,” he said. “We know where each other is at on the court all the time. We know each other’s strong suits; where we want to give them the ball, where we want to pass.”

Ben said he’s been told through Carter that a handful of NCAA Division II schools and a few junior colleges have expressed interest in him.

“After this season, we’ll probably weigh all the different schools that are talking and make a decision,” Ben said.

Daniel said if it’s possible, he’d like to follow his brother to the next level.

“That’s what my plan would be because we play good with each other,” he said.
