Considering a Family Addition? Friends of Animals Can Help

Solano County Friends of Animals is a group of local volunteers who work to help abandoned animals become well loved family additions.

Solano County Friends of Animals (SCFOA) is a local volunteer organization devoted to protecting the health and safety of orphaned, abandoned pets and to finding permanent forever homes for these animals in need of love.  Though the group mostly hears about cats and kittens, they also try to help dogs and even the occasional parakeet!

SCFOA's main focus is the feral cat problem in the Benicia-Vallejo area.  Through TNR (trap/neuter/release), volunteers help residents trap and transport feral cats for low-cost spay/neuter.   All animals rescued are assessed for good health and personality and, when possible, placed in foster care while awaiting adoption into a loving, permanent home.  Those not deemed adoptable are released back into the feral colony, increasing the sterile population that actually helps reduce the rate of reproduction.  SCFOA is a no-kill organization and frequently rescues healthy animals who are on Death Row at the Solano County Animal Shelter.

SCFOA  is always looking for animal lovers who have time to volunteer, funds to donate or both.   Providing a temporary foster home for a dog or cat, working a few weekend hours at the adoption site or making a donation of dollars or food -- any size donation - are ways to help.   There is a special need for new volunteers who can foster dogs and puppies.

Looking to adopt a pet?  SCFOA's fees are reasonable and include pre-adoption health care.  All animals are  healthy, have been spayed or neutered, have current shots and are microchipped.  Cats have been tested for feline leukemia and dogs tested for rabies.  To find a precious addition to your family, please visit their adoption sites.  They are open every weekend, rain or shine:
