City of Benicia City Council

<p>The Benicia City Council is made up four elected City Councilmembers  and a separately elected Mayor.</p> <p>Councilmembers are elected to four-year terms and elections are staggered in order to maintain continuity. The Mayor serves a four-year term and is responsible for, among other things, appointing members of the public to the many boards and commissions that advise the council and help shape public policy.</p> <p>The highest vote getter among councilmember candidates in the most recent election is given the title and honor of being the Vice Mayor.</p>
