In addition to fire and police service and lanscaping, any proposal should evaluate the serviceRead More needs of an expanded residential community. A small, out-dated Safeway and Raley's plus the other needed essential shopping options will continue to draw tax revenue to Benicia. As a new resident, I would like to support local, but not with less convenience or at higher expense than shopping outside the bounds of Benicia.

I love the fact that this fraudulent company only sold about 100 cars. One hundred isn't that theRead More same number of employees the Mayor projected might be hired in Benicia when she endorsed this farce?
Laurel May 4, 2013 at 01:39 pm
I want my money back, check in the mail ha ha ha. I am sick and tried of all this green save theRead More world crap. This world would be ok if the green nuts would stop spending our money. EPA GET OUT! Mayor Patterson is nothing but a train wreck for Benicia.
Tamra J Amato May 4, 2013 at 03:26 am
Maybe a soapbox derby type contest... creative Benicians could modify these cars...surely theyRead More aren't total tin cans?
Riley Willerson April 10, 2013 at 01:31 pm
Napoli's is in Benicia Karen, just listed China Wok as a matter of just a good place to eat comparedRead More to what is available in Benicia. But yes I could of just left the comment directed to Benicia.
Karen Hamilton April 9, 2013 at 06:54 pm
So Riley and Richard did you read the title of article?? Top 10 Restaurants in Benicia... why areRead More you listing Vallejo restaurants?? I do agree pizza pirate should not be on list!
Riley Willerson April 9, 2013 at 02:50 pm
Pizza Pirate? are you kidding me? If you think that is good pizza, wow taste buds must be ones thatRead More never leave Benicia. Napoli’s Pizza & Pasta, now that's great pizza plenty of cheese, and sausage and pepperoni and a lot of pizza for the price. Here's another great place to eat the China Wok in Vallejo, superior high quality, well priced food, 512 Sacramento St

I don not think Pappas had Chili Joe!! As for Best chili in town, probably is NOT Flavor cateringRead More either!!
Riley Willerson March 27, 2013 at 02:01 am
Oh Joe where you going with that *%##%* coming from your mouth, going down to %#%%^^ my lady caughtRead More her messing with another bad meal. Da dun da dun da ..... Ok name that tune?
Thomas Hamiltom March 26, 2013 at 02:48 am

I think it is sad, no matter what the reason, when a business has to close, unless it is becauseRead More someone broke the law. I am all for people trying to succeed in their businesses, especially when they are family owned and operated. This man used to have a restaurant in the Raleys shopping center, then changed the location and name. I know he has had his ups and downs with the restaurant, but I am still sorry to see that they could not thrive. Sadly, these downturns go along with the over regulated scene we see happening these days. Won' t someone come along and do something in this country to stop this madness?
Riley Willerson March 25, 2013 at 12:29 pm
got to hand it to you Joe, you do have a sense of humor, reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield, and IRead More mean that as a compliment, made me laugh..... :?D
Joe Feltcher March 24, 2013 at 10:08 pm
I just drove by there and it's packed. Looks like the locals are getting their last fill of poorRead More service and crummy food before the place shuts down.
Gary W Smith May 2, 2013 at 12:07 pm
'IF you build it, they will come' is a fine concept. But there had better be something behind itRead More that makes other people talk about it by means other than social media, or no one will come back. Somehow, I fear this 'social media' hype is just that. Build a better business by being a better business; but, being a better business in California is getting tougher given the cost of doing business, the micro-management regulations, and the constant waste of taxpayer dollars on things that don't help anyone's pocketbook except the current political entity in power. Too many things are arbitrarily enacted by unelected individuals. So, 'social media' - one needs to step back and think on that one if it is really the 'cat's meow' it is reported to be.

CODA....oops, too late. Way to go Patterson and the rest of the greenies that hailed them as theRead More greatest thing to happen to Benicia. If you guys want more money for the city you had better throw that support back valeros way. Awwwww, it's Patterson's own lil solyndra.
Don DeCosta May 1, 2013 at 01:32 pm
I hope Nine O Seven Grill is teaching the class because they're doing a great job with their socialRead More media campaign.
Richard Johnson March 30, 2013 at 11:59 pm
I believe that the purpose of a service is to provide something of value, not just to employ peopleRead More in a task that can be easily accomplished by a piece of equipment or machinery. Riveting was replaced by welding, we don’t need buggy whip makers anymore because we use cars in lieu of horse drawn carriages and sheet rock and tape replaced the people who used to apply plaster in buildings. At one time perhaps a quarter to a third of our population was on the farm and they were replaced by machinery. It’s called progress.

What if the car is not regisrerid to me?
mark pitts March 27, 2013 at 05:26 pm
It's strange how the company says it will save money with all the money it is collecting by gettingRead More rid of few workers sometimes technology does not pay.
John Headley March 15, 2013 at 01:16 am
T. Gunter March 14, 2013 at 04:59 pm
Great comment Chris. Your business is a welcome addition to downtown.
Chris Gatewood March 14, 2013 at 04:07 pm
The waters of a pool or bathtub can also be dangerous. The unfortunate tragedy from the waterfrontRead More festival could have been prevented. It was a function of humans making perhaps poor decisions which resulted in an accident. Letting this incident dictate the future use of the waters off of Benicia is silly. Why can't the community come together and improve from what we have learned vs the making this such a sore and unspeakable topic. Yes, someone lost their life and a family / community lost a loved one. Lawsuits, etc followed... Tragedy for sure. In terms of the economic activity, you are INCORRECT. Our business at the end of 1st street is doing great thanks to residents of Benicia as well as many folks from out of town. They purchase our products and services, enjoy them on the 1st Street green, waterfront and many other locations in and outside of the City. Many are stopping by our business after visiting other shops or will get a dinner and drinks from one of the local establishments after a fun time on the water with a paddle board or flying a kite on the green. They have a good time, they will do it again and share with others. It may not be busloads of tourists coming in, however it is something that is growing and will continue to benefit the economy. A small business downtown is tough indeed, but you need to look forward and believe in the possibilities.

I don't know how Safeway got away with only minor violations. Their men's restroom is one of theRead More dirtiest, stinkiest bathrooms in town - and it's been that way for years!
Insider March 4, 2013 at 12:34 pm
Here is one of the violations of First Street Cafe: Has me concerned, how about you? CAL06 Major -Read More Adequate handwashing facilities supplied & accessible Handwashing facilities shall be provided within or adjacent to toilet rooms, in food preparation areas and in warewashing areas. Each handwashing facility shall be provided with handwashing cleanser and sanitary single-use towels in dispensers.

"The Black Panther of Poetry" February 13, 2013 at 09:37 pm
I have an "Incredible Bulk" pin ball machine. For those of you who are not familiar withRead More that version, it is the same as the "Incredible Hulk, but this one features a Black Hulk; hence the word "Bulk instead of Hulk"!!! And unlike the Incredible Hulk that originally said "Don't make me angry...You wouldn't like me when I am angry"!!! The Incredible Bulk says the opposite when he says, "Please make me angry...You're gonna love me when I am angry"!!! I am presently working on another pinball machine named for the "Rambo" movie character. This character too will be the opposite of its' namesake. It will be called "Rambro"...It will say things like, "welcome to Jerkwater U.S.A.", and "All I wanted was something to eat and this two bit sheriff kept pushing and pushing......" Look for it around mid summer!!!! PEACE OUT!!!
Riley Willerson February 13, 2013 at 04:05 pm
Oh Joe, the town idiot, not an idiot as in the sence of small minded, but rather like an ass, and asRead More the song played.. some may believe "he's a joker, he's a midnight toker".. Joe mamma Joe, please can you just say "great a fellow Pinball fan" Your little man complex continues to shine brightly.
Linda L. Duffin February 13, 2013 at 02:09 pm
So Joe...another personal attack? Do you think there is even a SLIM possibility that you can make aRead More comment without putting someone else down?? Try it. You might like it! And I am sure the rest of the Benicia Patch readers would enjoy the break.
"The Black Panther of Poetry" February 14, 2013 at 07:49 pm
Is it pronounced like Alley(ali) or Ali(mohammed). Either way, I am sure it will be a knock out. IRead More mean they will be serving pork and down South when we called our pigs we screamed "Souwee" which sounds like Sushi....(You see where I am going with this)
Michelle Kye February 13, 2013 at 06:04 pm
BBQ and sushi...it does seem a weird combo, but then SF has combined Chinese food and donut stores,Read More so what the heck. I like the idea of a bbq place. Can't wait to check it out.
Babaloo February 13, 2013 at 03:33 am
does it matter,,,welcome to the neighborhood...can't wait for some good barbecue....yesssssssssssss
Michelle Kye February 13, 2013 at 06:08 pm
Sounds like a good deal! Juice smoothies tend to be high in calories but recognizing that you areRead More replacing a meal, a $1 smoothie makes a cheap breakfast or an early lunch.
Notta Hater February 13, 2013 at 01:29 pm
So Joe, you don't like Jamba Juice, Quiznos, news articles about the weather, and Incredible HulkRead More pinball machines. What DO you like about Benicia?
Joe Feltcher February 12, 2013 at 06:33 pm
I don't mind a different point of view. I mind a wrong point of view.
Joe Feltcher January 25, 2013 at 10:01 pm
A. I have State Farm and I can tell you that there are already THREE State Farm offices (that IRead More know of in Benicia). Do we really need ANOTHER one? B. JB wrote this up much better.
Jamie Hurley January 25, 2013 at 12:41 pm

Babaloo January 12, 2013 at 11:30 pm

Robert Livesay January 9, 2013 at 11:14 am
No reply from JB or the Patch on his dissappearance. Maybe he has moved on to bigger and betterRead More things. That would not take much. I sure hope everything is OK with JB. He was the only spark on the Patch staff. It could be a good comment article written by the Patch staff. At least tell us what is up. No lois Requist? It appears the Patch has combined resources for more non journalist to write their goofy articles. But I must admit I love to comment on them it brings out all the Liberals.
"The Black Panther of Poetry" January 8, 2013 at 10:28 pm
I mean look at what joe said about a innocent topic as the death of Huell Howser (the recentRead More deceased). Just read it. I assume you can read!!! Being an editor and all!!!
"The Black Panther of Poetry" January 8, 2013 at 10:26 pm
Joshua Staab and the editors of Benicia Patch; first and foremost you have to look at the source ofRead More the angst about this topic. Once you do that, then and only then can you begin to chastise. I hope you don't discipline your kids( if you have any) like this. I mean do you let one person start a fight only to stop it and criticize when the other(s) reacts? Well do you?!!!
Joshua Staab January 8, 2013 at 06:28 pm
Gentlemen, I'm sure there are better ways the two of you can be spending your free time outsideRead More publicly ridiculing each other. I ask that the two of you please stop this constant bickering with one another. It creates a burden for us editors who have to clean up your unflattering commentary. If you'd like to discuss this issue further, email me. I'm all ears.
Joe Feltcher December 30, 2012 at 03:42 am
They should have had better insurance like responsible people.
Michelle Kye December 28, 2012 at 07:25 pm
Thank you! Two of my relatives in New Jersey had their homes flooded and badly damaged during theRead More storm. The Red Cross was one of the agencies that helped my family members and they made a big difference.
AM April 8, 2013 at 08:37 pm
Kudos to you TW well said... Benicia residents do need to come off there perch. Personally I amRead More excited to see a Dollar Store coming to our beautiful town of Benicia and all you moms out there what a great way to put affordable snacks when it's your snack day for your children's sport activities.
Danny DeMars April 7, 2013 at 04:25 pm
Or send an e-card for free...
Aaron Nowling April 7, 2013 at 12:29 am
Well stated TW. Why pay $5.00 for a birthday card, anniversary, or Christmas card when one canRead More purchase them at a Dollar Tree for $1.00 or less.
Charlene McNally December 18, 2012 at 02:01 pm
Thank you for promoting local businesses and including my etsy shop (Gypsy Tears). ~Charlene McNally
