Sometime or other we need to understand what the different levels of government are responsible for.Read More Cities in our county are responsible for job creation within their boundaries. The County is responsible for many safety net programs that are passed on to them from higher levels of government such as public health services, emergency services, jails, birth and death records and the like. They do not have anything to do with deficit in Sacramento or Washington. Sacramento has made the deficit in Fairfield, our county seat, worse because of taking money that they collected for the cities and the county. In the past 4 years the county budget has been cut by 25%. It has gotten to the point where there is nothing left to cut which won't hurt seniors, children and the most vulnerable in our county. We need to be helping figure out how we can provide these mandated services for nothing. What would you do if your budget was suddenly cut by that amount? How would you manage?

Robert Livesay, are you serious!!!! Eight years of George (w)allace, I mean George W. Bush. WhatRead More is wrong with your cognivity and your ability to assimilate between what is wrong and what is right? HUH? Truly you don't believe the bullc- -p that you are spewing on this blog. Do you deny that eight years of George W. Bush rendered this country economically weak and devisive as it stands today? Can you really sit there or stand there with a poker face and blame this bullsh--t on liberals. Obviously you can and you are doing it. But Robert Livesay, you are not pulling the wool over no ones head but you and your peers. As a matter of fact you and your peers continue to live in your priviliged, bias, world. And when you wake up, I will aptly call you Rumpel Stilskin!!! But un-like him, there will be no Gold awaiting you, only the GOLDEN RULE!!!

I'm very disappointed to see Mr. Jensen go, he was shaking things up... and some folks in town don'tRead More like things to change much. Let's just keep things nice and calm. We have lost many amazing, progressive teachers in the last few years, and our students have clearly paid the price. I was so impressed to see Mr. Jensen care about each and every classroom at the high school. He is a "good egg" and our district will lose him as well.

Exceptional people can only produce exceptional results if they do everything themselves from theRead More ground up. They are at an inherent disadvantage in life. By the nature of being exceptional, they are above the majority in their respective area of talent or ability. More often than not, that majority feels threatened and colludes to cast the exceptional minority down in order to preserve the culture of mediocrity pervasive in the public sector, the private sector, and society in general which has allowed that majority to persist.

Stephanie, I am curious as to what you consider a "amazing, progressive teacher" to be.Read More I've had 3 children go through the Benicia school system and am amazed at the differences of opinions I hear as to what is a good or bad teacher/administrator.
