Pieter Arend Folkens is an artist who has gained international acclaim for his work in the depiction of marine mammals,More especially whales and dolphins. Some of his work is on display at Pieter Folkens Wildlife Illustration, situated at the Benicia Historical Park Place. Folkens' wildlife representations meld the worlds of two-dimensional art, sculpture, photography, and film. Clients range from the scientific community to the film industry. Among his accomplishments is designing the humpback whales in Star Trek IV and the killer whales in Free Willy.
