The New Harbor Community Church is a result of a merger between Benicia Bible Church and New Harbor Community…More Church.<br /> <br /> Benicia Bible Church began as a Bible Study group in 1984, with three families that Pastor Mike Anderson met while going door-to-door. With the help of the Conservative Baptist Association (CBA), Benicia Bible's first service took place in the Benicia School District Office Building in January 1985. Later that year, services moved to Benicia High School where it remained for seven years.<br /> <br /> In 1992, God opened the door for Benicia Bible to have its own church building when it was able to first rent and then later purchase units in the Benicia Industrial Park. On Labor Day weekend, the whole church body (including men, women and children) began to put up the walls of the new building.</p> <p>That same year, Jim and Lori Pearring, along with a core group of people interested in launching a new church, began New Harbor with the support of the Swedish Baptist Conference, better known as the Baptist General Conference (BGC). They met for "private worship" in Jim and Lori's home in late August, but the church was officially launched on October 18, 1992. The first public meeting was held at Benicia High School soon after Benicia Bible moved into their new building. Pastor Kelly Patchin and his wife, Jennifer, joined New Harbor in the summer of 1997. Then in 1998, New Harbor began meeting at Benicia Middle School.<br /> <br /> Benicia Bible and New Harbor merged into one church in September 2002. It is an autonomous church, self-governing, and freely in association with the CBA and the BGC.</p>

The Benicia Community Center was recently opened after extensive rehabilitation.  It is the former Mill…More elementary School site.  The center is the home of the Parks and Community Services Department.</p> <p>It is also the new home for the Boy and Girls Scouts, after school and summer you programs and has rooms available for community groups to hold meetings.</p>
