Arts Benicia Benefit Auction is This Weekend

Annual affair is chief fundraising vehicle for one of the signature non-profits in Benicia.

Every September, art lovers and collectors from all over the Bay Area attend Arts Benicia’s Benefit Art Auction where they enjoy an elegant evening of art, food, drinks and fun.

Tickets for the event are still available though online sales end at noon today.  “There are still some tickets available,” said Larnie Fox, Executive Director of Arts Benicia.  “The prices are higher if you wait and try and buy a ticket at the door.”

The auction will be held in the historic Clock Tower. There will be selection of hors d'oeuvres meant to compliment signature cocktails provided by the Rellik Tavern, fine wines and beer.

The evening will include a silent auction, a photo booth by Michael Van Auken, and a live art auction. Bidding for items sold n the silent auction ends at 8:15 p.m.

Like all businesses and non-profits, Arts Benicia has been hit hard by the economic woes of the country.  “We’ve learned to do more with less,” said Fox.  “We’re in the black again this year.”

Tickets have been reduced in price this year and are $35 per person and $60 for couples if purchased by noon, Friday, September 21. The event has sold out in the past. Arts Benicia. Major sponsors this year include The Rellik Tavern who in addition to a cash sponsorship, has donated signature cocktails for the event, BAIC Multimedia & IT Solutions, Benicia Magazine and Jordan Real Estate, Inc.

Proceeds from the auction will enhance Arts Benicia’s ability to stimulate and educate the entire community, from The Art of a Community, the annual open Members’ exhibition, to The Next Generation, which features art work of Benicia children ages 5-18, the growing Children’s Gallery Program that engages local families and schools, to the off-site Arts Benicia Presents exhibitions around town.
