Hopeful Romantics

Performing at Upstairs@The Cafe: Martinez folk band the Hopeful Romantics.

The Hopeful Romantics formed in 2009; a bunch of friends that just can’t help but play what doesn’t get played on the radio. Paying no attention to a particular style, their own Americana sound has emerged blending roots, country, folk and rock ... sometimes dark and swampy, sometimes light and sweet. Always authentic and satisfying. Heavy on the strings, their triple guitar lineup has earned them the description “The Molly Hatchett of Folk”. With strong vocal stylings and harmonious accompaniment, tales of Romance, Death and Intrigue are spun. Rounding out the instrumentation is the sweet slide of pedal steel, mournful wailing on the harmonica, and amazing mandolin and a soft sweet rhythm section. Writing and performing award-winning original tunes, and covering songs from Gillian Welch and Gram Parsons to Wilco, their musical esthetic is diverse and fully expressed. Hopeful Romantics have performed at International SWAN Day, Americana Sunday at Jupiter in Berkeley, Martinez Music Mafia Holiday Pageant as well as Fall Music Festival, Relay for Life and currently host the Americana Sundays at Armando’s in Martinez.
