Next Generation Opening Reception

Ask almost any artist how long they’ve been making art, and many will respond that they have been active artists since they could hold a crayon, colored pencil or paint brush. Arts Benicia and local schools have collaborated to bring that art out of students’ classrooms and homes and into the gallery for the entire community to see with The Next Generation exhibition. The Next Generation features the art work of youth residing or attending school in Benicia, grades K-12. Students attending Mary Farmar, Joe Henderson, Robert Semple, Saint Dominic’s, Matthew Turner, as well as Benicia Middle School, Benicia High School and Liberty High School will be represented. In addition to including work from each Benicia school, the exhibition also includes artwork from home-school groups and afterschool programs. This exhibition is not only a celebration of the power and integrity of children’s art, but an opportunity for many young artists and their work to be recognized.
