Hot Temps Push On, How to Keep Cool

Regional officials urge residents to find ways to beat the heat.

National Weather Service representatives announced today "record-breaking heat will once again affect much of the western U.S." To stay cool, regional officials encourage residents revisit ways to avoid the heat.

In Southern Solano County, area forecasters predict today's temperatures could reach above 95 degrees today, including in Benicia.

In neighboring Sacramento City and County -- where residents are accustomed to temperatures in the hundreds -- officials their recently released lists of cooling tips. They are:

• Limit outside activities

• Avoid becoming dehydrated

• Drink plenty of water

• Stay in cool environment

• Dress appropriately, wear lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting clothing

• Drink cold drinks

• Taking cool showers to lower body temperature
