National Security-Going Down Hill Rapidly

Given 2000 - 2014 wars or near-wars, our security stance appear to be "Appeasement at any Cost!"  What did earlier generations think of that approach?  Churchill observed that  appeasement is "a sad tale of wrong judgments formed by well-meaning and capable people." By today's definition 'appeasement' is "to buy off an aggressor by concessions usually at the sacrifice of principles."  Appeasement: the current approach to North Africa, Iran, Syria, now Crimea, plus the perceptions provided China and North Korea.  Bertrand Russell was accurate - "those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it!"   What happened to Teddy Roosevelt's concept -"Walk softly and carry a big stick!

US Preparedness:

Under current plans approved by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel during the summer, that figure could be reduced as low as 420,000.  The Two of the 35 active duty Army's brigade combat teams in the United States have received the full training they would need to go to war (2013)-General Ray Odierno to Senate..

Further 2014 cuts would force the Air Force to curb flying hours to the point where within three or four months, many units "won't be able to maintain full mission readiness." along with grounding 13 fighter/bomber squadrons- General Mark Welsh

The Navy struggled to maintain an Amphibious Force of 30 ships, able to muster on SEVEN of the 15 required to deploy a Marine Expeditionary Brigade in 2003 with the total force reduced to 28 in 2013 (Proceeding Magazine/3-2014).

Further Navy cuts will halt the planned purchase of a Virginia-class submarine, a littoral combat ship and forward staging base ship, as well as plans to buy 11 tactical aircraft.

We are strung-out as the 'world's peacekeeper' - we have 746 military bases in over 140 countries.

The Pentagon envisions a leaner fighting machine, able to win wars, but without 'boots on the ground'; traditional Army and Marine foot soldiers appear to be taking a backseat to a more streamlined force.  While not obvious to the general public, wars are not won by anyone but 'boots on the ground" - technology whether for solider, sailor or airman, only assists in the pursuit of the victory.  Somebody actually has to confront in order to achieve victory.

The current administration appeases Iran who is approximately 6 months from nuclear weapons capability and Putin flexibility acts to re-establish Russia (Obama to Medvedev 3-26-12: "after my election I have more flexibility).  Let us not ignore the triad Russia, Iran and China are building with their improved weaponry, courtesy of US technology greed under multiple administrations going back to the 1990s; that is how Bill and Hillary go their funding (E. China carried out the first test flight of a stealth fighter jet in 2011 and has put a refurbished aircraft carrier to sea. 

China’s Type 092 Xia-class SSBN  coupled with technical improvements to the Chinese JL-2 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) suggests China is approaching a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent.

Perhaps I should mention internal security: a single EMP event can limit or extinguish the US power grid, reducing citizens to a dog-eat-dog existence for years.  Major power distribution equipment requires a year to special order/custom manufacture, by non-US companies - is any Administration doing anything about that? 

Fourteen years into Homeland Security produces the 'Boston Bomber', 'The Underwear Bomber', 'The Shoe Bomber' and groping of citizens to no effect. 

The ignorance of a "strategic partnership" with dictators in Russia or China can hardly be a responsible concept.  Prior administration's decades of 'kicking the can down the road' begins to show as the risk level increases.   So let's NOT GO FORWARD in 2014 with the same insane mentality by placing look-alike loonies in charge, year-after-year-after year!  If candidates are not conservative, fiscally responsible, Constitutionally based, and free-market oriented, they don't need your vote as their skill set is not guiding the nation, only stuffing their pockets.
