Benicia Police Log: Attempted Burglary on McAllister, Disappearing Barking Dog on Mills

12:21 a.m.: There was a report of a suspicious person on East L Street who may have been drink.  Officers were unable to locate the person.

12:36 a.m.: Officers were unable to locate a drunk driver reported in Solano Square.

5:58 a.m.: Somebody on Channing left the garage door open.  Someone else closed it before officers arrived.

8:37 a.m.: A city worker set off an alarm at a city facility on Rose Drive.  It was an accident.

8:45 a.m.:  An employee at a business on Industrial Way set off the alarm.

9:25 a.m.: Two men who were shooting video in the vicinity of Park Road left the area when officers asked them to.

10:56 a.m.: The disappearing barking dog has wandered back into Benicia and was bothering residents on Mills.

11:25 a.m.: One person’s suspicious package on West 12th Street is another person’s sandbag.

11:28 a.m.: Police received a report of a pickup truck driving slowly on Capitol.  Officers couldn’t locate the vehicle.

11:35 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on West Seventh Street.

11:39 a.m.: A man on McAllister ignored the knocking on his front door and then saw two en come into his backyard.  One man was carrying what may have been a crowbar.  The two men fled when the man yelled at them.  Officers were unable to locate the men.

11:47 a.m.:  A home on Fuchsia may have been entered while the residents were away. 

12:30 p.m.: A vehicle with expired registration was towed from Kearney Street.

12:49 p.m.: Officers came to a Francisca home where a wife and husband were arguing.  The man left prior to the arrival of officers.

12:59 p.m.: A homeowner on West K Street failed to turn off the alarm.

1:08 p.m.: Officers investigated a report of people on East Fifth Street smoking marijuana.  They found the people but there were no drugs.

1:10 p.m.: Police received a 911 call from the vicinity of Matthew Turner School but couldn’t find anyone in distress.

1:34 p.m.: Officers gave a resident on Rankin advice regarding a roommate issue.

1:44 p.m.: The man wearing a backpack and talking on a phone in Southampton Center appeared suspicious to the person who reported him to police.  He was gone when officers arrived.

1:53 p.m.: Officers found that at least one of the teens walking through a complex on Sunset lived in the complex.

2:12 p.m.: A citation was issued to a vehicle illegally parked on Seaview.

4:12 p.m.: the kids who were rifling through backpacks on First Street were the owners of the backpacks.

4:23 p.m.: Officers couldn’t find the person who was reportedly in the bushes on East Fifth Street.

6:28 p.m.: There was no truth to the report that people were drinking alcohol in a park on Rose Drive.

8:16 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Southampton Road.

11:37 p.m.: There was a report of people in a West K Street park after the park was closed.  Officers couldn’t find anyone in the park.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
