Benicia Police Log: Transmission Repair on Lori and Pool Hoppers on Southampton Road

12:46 a.m.: Police arrested a 19-year-old Vallejo man for having a loaded gun and for having a high capacity magazine.

1:08 a.m.: Police received a report of loud people on East L Street.  When officers arrived in the area they were unable to hear anyone.

1:30 a.m.: Officers were unable to find any evidence of forced entry at a Sprig Street business where an alarm was activated.

6:28 a.m.: Police began an investigation into the theft of a vehicle from Grant Street.

6:33 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into the theft of metal from a Bay Vista Court business.

9:49 a.m.: A resident of East H Street reported an ongoing dispute with a neighbor.

10:19 a.m.: Police began in investigation into a case of fraud on East Second Street.

11:56 a.m.: Police began an investigation into the theft of a trailer from the vicinity of Stone Road.

12:26 p.m.: Officers investigating a residential alarm activation on West I Street were unable to determine why the alarm was activated.

3:23 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Hanlon.

6:09 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm was activated at a residence on Sanborn. 

7:14 p.m.: Police were called to a residence on Carsten where a family dispute was under way.  Officers who responded to the call talked to a parent and child who were having a major disagreement.

7:37 p.m.: Police began an investigation into a possible hit and run on East Second Street.

7:41 p.m.: A resident on Kearney Street reported a vehicle that was unfamiliar to the area.  Investigating officers noted that the car was properly registered and the parked legally.

8:25 p.m.: Police received a report of someone throwing bottles onto the East Fifth Street onramp of Interstate 780.  The person was gone when police arrived on the scene.

8:42 p.m.: Police received a report of a car driving back and forth on Lori Drive at a high rate of speed.  Investigating officers were able to locate the car and driver.  The driver told police he was doing some transmission work on the car.  Officers informed him of the complaint.

9:33 p.m.: The burglar alarm of a Rose Drive business was activated.  Officers who arrived on the scene were unable to determine what caused the activation.

9:46 p.m.: Police received a report of a large group of juveniles who had jumped the fence to the pool area of a Southampton Road apartment complex.  When officers arrived on the scene they talked to the group, one of whom lived at the complex.

10:17 p.m.: Police received a report of someone violating the city noise ordinance by using a table saw after 10 p.m.  Officers were unable to locate anyone using a table saw in the vicinity.

11:07 p.m.: There was a malfunction in the alarm system of a Sprig Street business.

11:10 p.m.: Police began an investigation into the theft of a cell phone.

11:42 p.m.: An East Fifth Street business reported an intoxicated person inside the business was unwilling to leave.  Officers gave the person a ride to a detox facility.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
