A 26-year-old Benicia resident was arrested early Monday morning after police say they found him with drugs, guns, a suspected Molotov Cocktail and a throwing star.
Around 12:30 a.m. Monday, police saw Ryan Estrella walking around the Solano Square Shopping Center, after all the businesses were closed.
"When Estrella returned to his 2000 Mitsubishi Gallant that was parked in the area of 90 Solano Square, he was contacted, but was unable to provide a valid reason for being in the are," the Benicia Police Department said in a press release.
According to the press release, a Benicia Police Department drug K-9 alerted on Estrella's car; it was searched and police say they found what they suspect was methamphetamine, along with marijuana, a digital scale, an unloaded .22 caliber handgun and rifle, gun powder, a suspected Molotov Cocktail and an illegal throwing star.
"The Molotov Cocktail contained an unknown chemical," the press release stated. "The firearms were collected for safekeeping and Estrella was arrested and found to possess a glass narcotic pipe."
Estrella was arrested on drugs and weapons charges and booked into Solano County Jail.
Police obtained a warrant for his home in Benicia and searched it "looking for additional evidence regarding the Improvised Incendiary Device," but found nothing further.
"The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms took possession of the Improvised Incendiary Device and will be processing it to determine its contents," the press release said. "Further charges could be filed at a later date."
