Deaths of Two Men on Delta Houseboat Considered Suspicious
Bodies of two males were found by deputies around 12:40 p.m.
The bodies of two males were found on a houseboat in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta north of Pittsburg on Monday afternoon, and the deaths are considered suspicious, a Solano County sheriff's spokesman said.
The boaters had been reported missing in the Sacramento River in the area of the New York Slough, and the Contra Costa County sheriff's marine patrol unit was helping the U.S. Coast Guard search for them, Contra Costa sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
The boat was found near Spoonbill Creek in Solano County, Lee said.
The marine patrol deputies tried to contact the boat's occupants before boarding the vessel, where they found the bodies of two males around 12:40 p.m., Lee said.
The Solano County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case because the boat was in its jurisdiction, Deputy Daryl Snedeker said. "It's very early in the investigation. Our guys are still out there," Snedeker said.
A Solano County coroner's office deputy said the bodies were still on the boat this morning.
