Benicia Girl Seeks Extra Soccer Equipment For Those Less Fortunate

sophomore Emily Wolfe is looking to help fellow soccer players in the Benicia area and those half a world away.

Wolfe is spearheading a project that would help local Benicia athletes who need soccer equipment. What is not needed by local soccer players will be sent to India to help peers who don’t have proper equipment. She was inspired to start the project while attending Julie Foudy’s soccer camp the past few years.

While there, last year, Wolfe met fellow soccer players from India via the Magic School Bus program. Foudy made her players do a community service project when they went home.

“We had a couple of girls on my team that inspired me so much,” Wolfe said.

Wolfe has collected over 60 pieces of equipment, from cleats, shin guards, soccer ball and cones, but is looking to collect more before she attends the camp again this summer. The biggest contribution she has received so far is a bag of un-inflated soccer balls.
