Going to Prom in Style on the Party Bus

For prom-goers, getting there is half the fun.

Gone are the days of driving to the prom in your parent's car. Even limousines are old school.

These days, the party bus is the the stylish and safe way to get to prom. If you've never been inside a party bus, picture a swanky party lounge on wheels. The interior is plush with leather bench seating, a flat screen television, neon lights, built in beverage bars and a booming sound system. It's the height of luxury.

Party busses were spotted all over Benicia on prom night, organized for groups of students by parents. One Kearney Street departure point was abuzz with excitement as couples arrived.

Parents are big fans of the party bus too. “We like this idea.   We think it's safer for the children... I mean the teens. There are rules for riding the bus so we're all good,” said Shereen who came to see her son Dillon off to the prom.

Their bus was taking 14 couples safely to and from and the prom, without the risk of kids drinking and driving. Speaking of alcohol, passengers must agree to not bring alcohol or drugs onto the bus. Before departure, the driver warns the group about consequences of violations; the entire group will be returned home immediately ending the party.

The cost of the the party buss with Mosaic Global Transportation ran about $1700 for the night, so it came  out to $60 per person. It seems expensive, but worth it for parents piece of mind.

Like a scene from the red carpet a barrage of excited paparazzi parents swarmed around taking photos of the glamorous teens. Girls arrived in  of every color and style. Their dates smartly dressed in tuxes and suits in coordinating colors. As the bus pulled away, the crowd of smiling parents waved and wished their kids a fun evening. One mom said, "Wow, they grow up fast."
