You Know You're a Panther Band Booster When...

...you see a puff of smoke?

The other morning as I was driving up the hill to Mary Farmar, my younger son and I noticed an overwhelming fire smell. We spotted the source – a thick cloud of smoke rising into the sky from what looked like the area around the high school. And my first thought was, “Please don’t let that be the band uniforms on fire!” Then my thoughts jumped to the band room; the instruments; the new trailer! I snapped out of it when I saw that it was something burning on the freeway, not on campus… Whew!

To my defense, my brain is frequently in “band-mode,” with all of the band projects that take place throughout the year. And having just helped with a uniform fitting last week, I had blue & gold on my mind.

Preparing for our big trip to New York in a few weeks also has me thinking of band more than usual. It will be an honor to chaperone the students to march in the New York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, albeit slightly nerve-wracking to maintain the whirlwind schedule that we’ve set for ourselves. And I would expect nothing less on a Band trip.

Did I mention the Booster planning that’s also underway for the upcoming Winter Review and the Car Show Fundraiser, both of which will be hosted in town?

Yes, this group of Boosters is kept plenty busy. So I guess we could say that we know we’re Panther Band Boosters when… we actually look forward to a hectic schedule, lots of planning, and giving a piece of ourselves to assist with a program that is so valuable to our students. And when we have occasional panicked thoughts of 100 uniforms possibly going up in smoke!
