About JB
Email: jbdavis@patch.com
Phone: 707.628.0051
Hometown: Honolulu, HA
Birthday: January 16, 1959
Bio: JB's first job in 1972 was delivering the San Diego Union newspaper. After college he worked in the circulation department of the San Diego Union. In the mid 1980s he became fascinated with politics and eventually became a professional political campaign worker.
In 1992 he moved to Benicia to work on a campaign for Republican State Senate candidate Margie Handley. After that campaign he stayed in Benicia and started working for a local lighting artist. He became active in the community, serving on a number of boards and commissions, including the County Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Board and the School District Budget Advisory Committee.
He's really excited about working at Patch where he'll use his knowledge of City Hall to help keep readers informed.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard. I believe corporate citizenship means reinvesting in the communities where you do business. I believe I can learn something from everyone I talk to – especially the ones I don't agree with. I believe the perfect World Series will pit the Oakland A's against the San Diego Padres. I believe Saturday football is more fun to watch than Sunday Football. I believe the best politician is one who isn't interested in running for higher office. I believe journalism will allow me to serve the community better than I ever could on a commission or board.
Politics: I was a registered Republican until the Supreme Court elected George Bush to be President of the United States. Today I am registered a Democrat but anyone who knows me knows I am insanely moderate. My good friend Dan Smith thinks I'm too conservative. When I was a Republican most of my friends referred to me as a "squish." Today squishes are called Republicans In Name Only (rino).
Religion: No, but I pray.
Local Hot-Button Issues: Maintaining services in the face of continuing budget decreases is the biggest issue in Benicia today. This is true at both City Hall and in the schools. Tourism and economic development rank high on the issues scale.

The Dollar Store at Parkway Plaza (2012 Columbus Parkway) is now OPEN!!!
Finally a place to buy everything - toiletries, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, party supplies, kids toys, snacks, etc.
No more wasting money on gas to go to Vallejo for Walmart, Target or Costco. You can't buy anything for a dollar at CVS either...
