Robert J. Stalknecht, the biological father who gave four days after her birth, died last week in Houston due to complications from diabetes, according to Donna Gillihan, who along with husband Ron, raised Katie in Benicia.
Stalknecht met his daughter on Dec. 6, 2010 just two monthsin what police are calling a murder. Gillihan's birth mother was gravely ill when she flew to Texas to meet her birth parents. Her mother died shortly after that initial visit.
Gillihan's boyfriend, , charged with murder in the case, is being held in Solano County jail while he awaits trial on the charges.
