Santa Claus is Making a Scouting Trip to Benicia

The ruddy faced guy in the red suit will be scouting out who's been naughty and who's been nice.

The Benicia Firefighters Association, together with the Benicia Fire Department, is inviting children of all ages to come to to have their picture taken with Santa in his sleigh.  The event will be held Friday between 4 and 8 p.m.

"This is a really important event for Benicia," said firefighter Jeff Toynbee.  "Santa has a really busy schedule and to get him to come to Benicia to scout out the chimneys and roofs here was a big deal."

The firefighters are using this event to kick off their annual Toys for Tots Drive and, to show their support for Lacey Wilson and her family.  New, unwrapped toy donations will be accepted and there will be a "fill the boot" for the Lacey Wilson Fund.

"Santa told us he wants Benicia children to remember this is a season of giving," said Toynbee.  "There are a lot of Benicia families who have been hit hard by this economy and Santa wants to team up with kids and their families to make this a great holiday for everyone."

Firefighters at the event can accept only new, unwrapped toys.
