SHIROCOS WELCOMES A FAMILY OF ARTISTRY

Three Artists in One Place – PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE AND CELEBRATION

Friday, June 8th, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, 216 First Street, Downtown Benicia

In Benicia, the celebration of art is a family affair. That’s not just because we have the beauty of local art works in our parks and at studios across the city. We quite literally have moms and dads and sons working together in their own separate paths to creativity!

Each artist will display their own work, and for showcase pieces that show their styles together in singular works. You may find the experience awesome, while strolling down our artistic walkway!

Here is a bit more about our featured Benicia artists:

  • Chuck Potter will be showcasing his cathartic artistic experience. As he says of his works: “The intent of my artwork is to invite you along on my journey and share in what I see, what I feel, what I sense, what I cannot put into words, and most importantly, what I have forgotten. This is the journal of my experience in life and how I work through it. How I reconcile my spirit being with humanity and connect the abstract with conscience.”
  • Diane Williams is a teacher and a painter who sees life and life afterwards in her work. “My connection to nature is absolute. Contemplating nature inspires my paintings just as the act of painting confirms my relationship to nature. I respond to the canvas with the dance of my body and the wisdom of my being.”
  • Santino Williams will be showing his graffiti-inspired canvas work, as well as be introducing his work on a special exhibit of his impressions of America’s first celebrity family, The Benicia Boy (John Heenan) and The Benicia Girl (Adah Issacs Menken).  As has been said of his work: “Forged in the fires of the grimy streets, and refined in the sanctuary of the studio, Santino's work carves out its own striking niche. His combination of mediums and styles completed by subtle technique, bold colors, and multifaceted designs serve to immerse the viewer in a world of entirely different perspectives that come to redefine the new vogue...”
