Benicia Police Log: Burglary on Breck, Stolen Purse on East Third and Suspected Arson on Sunset

7:50 a.m.: A woman on West L Street reported hearing noises overnight that may have been someone trying to break in to her house.  Officers found no evidence someone tried to break in to her home.

8:02 a.m.: A resident on Arguello reported that their lawn was torn up by someone.

9:04 a.m.: A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on West Third Street.

9:52 a.m.: Officers spoke to an unwanted guest at a home on Winston.

10:30 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a McAllister Drive home.

12:12 p.m.: A suspicious person on Military West was yelling obscenities.  It turned out he was mad at a bus driver.

1:47 p.m.: A resident on Ardmore reported their identity had been stolen and used to open a charge account.

2:52 p.m.: The person who drove onto the Valero Refinery without permission was lost and following directions on their GPS.

2:56 p.m.: A resident on West G Street requested advice on a civil issue.

3:09 p.m.: The drunk guy on East Third Street was taken home by a family member.

3:38 p.m.: A home on Breck was burglarized.

4:06 p.m.: A 46-year-old Benicia man was arrested on suspicion of arson, residential burglary, felony threats and battery on a police officer.

5:25 p.m.: A resident on Ardmore reported a solicitor in the area trying to sell newspaper subscriptions.  Officers were unable to find the solicitor.

6:19 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Oregon.

6:23 p.m.: An employee at an East Industrial Way business accidentally set off the burglar alarm.

6:28 p.m.: Officers counseled two neighbors on Clearview who were involved in a dispute.

7:47 p.m.: A residence on Cambridge was vandalized.  Police know of a possible suspect.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
