Benicia Police Log: Day Begins and Ends with Loud People on First Street

12:03 a.m.: The loud people reported on First Street were gone when officers arrived on the scene.

6:36 a.m.: A stray goat showed up on Park Road.  Officers were unable to contain the beast.

6:57 a.m.: There was a solo vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 780 west.  The vehicle’s sole occupant was injured.

7:49 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on eastbound Interstate 780.

8:38 a.m.: A citizen called police about a dog loose on Durham.  The dog was gone from the scene when officers arrived to investigate.

10:41 a.m.: A resident on Mills reported receiving harassing phone calls from a satellite installer.  Officers spoke to both parties and helped broker a solution.

10:56 a.m.: Officers gave advice to a resident on Sherman who has an ongoing problem with a dog in the area constantly barking.

11:20 a.m.: Police received a report of a man sweeping his property while wearing no clothes.  Officers arrived to find the sweeper, unlike the emperor had some clothes but they were a bit skimpy.

12:36 p.m.: A contractor working at an East Second Street home accidentally set off the burglar alarm.

3:16 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious person at a Bayshore Road address.  The caller identified the suspicious person as a former tenant who had been evicted.  He was gone before officers arrived.

3:43 p.m.: A resident on Southampton Road accidentally set off the home burglar alarm.

4:01 p.m.: Police received a report of people selling drugs on West K Street.  They contacted the alleged drug dealers who were searched.  Police found no evidence of drugs.

5:28 p.m.: A resident on Karen reported receiving threatening prank phone calls.  The police are investigating.

5:30 p.m.: A suspicious truck spotted on Cooper left the area after picking up a passenger.

5:50 p.m.: A resident on Kearney reported fraudulent charges to a checking account.

6:35 p.m.: Officers were unable to locate a suspicious person walking on westbound Interstate 780.

7:31 p.m.: Police received a report of a person walking on northbound Interstate 680.

8:23 p.m.: A couple of people playing basketball at the city gym had a disagreement and were separated before the arrival of officers.

9:08 p.m.: Police received a report of a person with a puffy jacket and blonde hair walking on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 780.  The person was gone prior to officers checking the area.

9:38 p.m.: Officers took a report from a concerned citizen regarding possible drug offenses occurring on West K Street.

10:04 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

11:55 p.m.: As the clock neared midnight and October 17 was coming to an end, officers were once again called to First Street because of a noise complaint and, once again, the loud people were gone when officers arrived.

11:56 p.m.: There was a non-injury accident on Lake Herman Road.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
