Benicia Police Log: Lost iPhone on East F, Mail Carrier Bitten on Carlisle

8:43 a.m.: Someone shot a pellet through the window of a First Street business.

9:03 a.m.: A sign was torn down on West Second Street.  The sign owner has requested extra patrols in the area.

10:09 a.m.: An employee at a Columbus Parkway business made a mistake while attempting to turn off the burglar alarm.

10:17 a.m.: Officers looked for a vehicle that was reportedly speeding in the Benicia Industrial Park.

10:34 a.m.: Police received a report of vandalism at the city cemetery on Riverhill.

11:30 a.m.: A dog bit a mail carrier on Carlisle.

2:38 p.m.: A citizen on Merlin asked for assistance with a matter regarding a vehicle.

3:10 p.m.: Officers began an investigation into allegations of fraud on East H Street.

3:18 p.m.: Officers talked to two youngsters who were behaving badly in a Military East Store.

3:28 p.m.: Officers received a report that a citizen had lost their iPhone in the vicinity of East F Street.

3:45 p.m.: A residential burglar alarm was activated on Hanlon.  Officers were unable to find a cause.

4:49 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on East J Street.

4:53 p.m.: Officers were asked to talk to a female juvenile who was out of control at her Larkin Street home.

5:30 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a Military West business was accidentally activated.

6:00 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Lake Herman Road.

6:44 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Channing where a pit bull was running loose and appeared injured.  Investigating officers determined the dog wasn’t injured as it made its was into the open space.

7:28 p.m.: A burglar alarm at a Goodyear Road business was activated.  Investigating officers found the building to be secure.

8:24 p.m.: A citizen reported the theft of a backpack in the vicinity of Military West.

9:20 p.m.: Officers went to Kearney Street where a car alarm was blaring.  The alarm had stopped when officers arrived.

9:31 p.m.: Officers talked to a citizen regarding a child custody issue.

9:40 p.m.: A vehicle that was blocking traffic on East Second Street was broken down.  The tow truck arrived about the same time as the police.

11:49 p.m.: An alarm was activated at a Military West business.  Investigating officers found no break in had occurred.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
