1:51 a.m.: Police received a report of a verbal altercation over some spilled wine.  The alleged argument was done when officers arrived.

2:55 a.m.: A resident on Ardmore reported a group of loud men in the area.  They were gone when officers arrived.

4:28 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine why a burglar alarm was activated at a residence on Banbury.

4:48 a.m.: Officers arrested a 38-year-old Benicia man on a no bail warrant issued by the Brentwood Police Department.

7:43 a.m.: Officers began an investigation into a case of vandalism on Southampton Road.

8:55 a.m.: Police gave advice to a Benicia resident who is receiving unwanted phone calls.

10:47 a.m.: Officers talked to two people on East N Street who were having a loud argument.

11:35 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a burglary at an East Second Street business.

5:14 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Marina where two people were having a verbal altercation.  The altercation had ended before officers arrived on the scene.

5:35 p.m.: Police were notified of a verbal altercation on Rose Drive.  Officers gave a warning to the people involved.

6:09 p.m.: Police received a report of someone cutting down trees on Buena Vista and blocking the street.  Officers talked to the tree cutter.

6:19 p.m.: Police received a report of a possible shoplifter at a Solano Square business.  They were unable to find the man in question.

6:25 p.m.: Officers recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen in Antioch.

7:20 p.m.: Police talked to some solicitors who were working in the area of Solano Avenue.

8:07 p.m.: Officers found a dog in the vicinity of West 14th Street.  They were able to return the wayward hound to its people.

8:27 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine why a burglar alarm at an Indiana Street business was activated.

9:02 p.m.: Police received a report of shots fired in the vicinity of Breck.  Investigating officers found nothing unusual.

9:11 p.m.: An argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend prompted a warning from police officers.

10:00 p.m.: Police received a report of a verbal altercation between guests at an East Fifth Street hotel.  Officers gave a warning to the people involved.

10:26 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Southampton Road business.

11:18 p.m.: Police received a report of a possible fake ID being used on Military East.  Investigating officers found the ID in question was valid.

11:35 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

11:45 p.m.: A 52-year-old Benicia man was arrested on domestic violence charges.  The arrest took place on East H Street.

12:21 a.m.: A mother and daughter on Corcoran were involved in a verbal altercation.

12:26 a.m.: A resident on East Seventh Street set off the burglar alarm at their home.

12:49 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

12:59 a.m.: A resident on Lansing set off the burglar alarm at their home.

1:06 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into vandalism that took place on First Street.

1:12 a.m.: There was a family disturbance on Rose Drive.

1:44 a.m.: Police received a report of a garage door open on Essex.  Officers were able to secure the door.

2:10 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

3:02 a.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at an East Second Street business.

6:10 p.m.: An employee at a Columbus Parkway  business accidentally set off the burglar alarm.

7:22 p.m.: Officers were asked to document a violation of a court order.

9:03 p.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old Benicia woman on a warrant issued in Napa.

9:24 p.m.: The participants in a loud party on West Seaview were leaving when officers arrived to talk to the hosts about noise.

9:33 p.m.: Police received a report of a loud party on Thomas. Officers talked to the host and asked that the volume be turned down.

10:10 p.m.: Police received a report of a car parked on East O Street that was playing loud music and refusing to turn down the volume.  The car was gone when officers arrived on the scene.

10:13 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to an East K Street where a man and woman were having a loud argument.

10:18 p.m.: Police received a report of loud talking by a group on Karen.  Officers talked to the people involved and convinced them to talk quietly.

11:54 p.m.: Police received a report of a possible drunk driver on Chelsea Hills.  Officers were able to find the driver and determined that he wasn’t drunk.

12:58 a.m.: Police received a report of an unwanted guest at a Southampton Road residence.  An ex girlfriend was refusing to leave.

3:30 a.m.: Police informed a person sleeping in a car on East Fourth Street that sleeping in a car was against city ordinances.

5:27 a.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a commercial burglary at a business on East Second Street.

9:32 a.m.: A vehicle on Oxford was vandalized.

10:45 a.m.: Police were called to investigate a possible dumping violation on East Second Street.  It seems only water was dumped.

1:17 p.m.: Officers had a discussion with the fishermen in the vicinity of West Ninth Street who were fishing in an area posted as “No Fishing”.

5:00 p.m.: Police received a report of animals on West Eighth Street who may not be properly cared for.  Investigating officers were unable to find the animals in question and forwarded the information to the animal control officer who will investigate.

5:06 p.m.: A resident on Earl called police to report a suspicious vehicle.  Officers determined that the vehicle is owned by another resident on Earl.

5:21 p.m.: A resident on Military West wanted to speak to an officer regarding a civil matter.

5:55 p.m.: A wallet was found on Chelsea Hills and returned to the owner.

5:58 p.m.: Some neighbors on Orchid had a dispute over parking.

8:32 p.m.: Police received a report of kids driving on East Second Street and firing an air gun out the window.  Officers looked for the kids and their car but were unable to locate either.

9:03 p.m.: Police were notified of a hit and run that occurred on West K Street.  The hit vehicle was towed.  No one saw the run vehicle.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
