Benicia Police Log: Man Arrested on Egret for Receiving Stolen Property

2:12 a.m.: An alarm going off on Solano Avenue turned out to be an old smoke alarm that was on the ground.

2:31 a.m.: A dog was barking on East N Street.  Officers spoke to the dog’s people who agreed to quiet the animal.

1:59 p.m.: Officers were asked to document that a window screen at a residence on Church Street was tampered with.

2:43 p.m.: Officers were looked for but were unable to find the two juveniles who ran through a backyard on Camellia.

3:50 p.m.: A mother reported her 11-year-old daughter failed to meet her after school.  Officers were able to help the woman locate her daughter.

3:58 p.m.: There was a report of a group of men smoking pot near an East Sixth Street park.  Officers were unable to locate the group.

4:22 p.m.: A 44-year-old Benicia woman was arrested in Solano Square for being drunk in public.

4:57 p.m.: A woman on Samuel Court reported finding three casino players cards in her driveway.

6:49 p.m.: Two people walking on East E Street were having an argument.

7:06 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on First Street.

7:07 p.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Interstate 780.

7:14 p.m.: A woman was arrested on Military East for public drunkenness.

7:28 p.m.: There was a juvenile tooling around on a homemade motorized scooter in the vicinity of La Cruz.  Officers spoke to the kid and his mom.

8:29 p.m.: A 47-year-old Newark man was arrested on Egret for grand theft and receiving stolen property.

11:48 p.m.: A dog was barking on Military East.  The dog’s people were given a warning by officers.

11:58 p.m.: Two people were involved in a verbal altercation on East Second Street.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
