Man Shot in Car on 780 East

The car was between Glen Cove and Columbus when the shots were fired.

A man was shot  Thursday evening while in a car heading toward Benicia on eastbound I-780, said police who responded to a 911 call. The car that was fired on took the East Second Street exit and pulled into the parking lot. The victim entered the restaurant, helped by a friend.

According to Bay City News the driver of the car Arturo Venegas, 19, of Vallejo, was driving eastbound on the highway in a white 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora with passenger Daniel Rodriguez, 20, of Benicia, when a light blue pickup truck drove up alongside their car and the driver fired four or five shots at the two men.

The victims continued on I780 to the East Second Street exit and pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot and entered the restaurant.
